history

The Benediktushof is located on the site of a former three-winged Benedictine monastery . The first little monastery was founded by Gaugraf Trojandus in 768 and then handed over to Charlemagne . Karl, in turn, issued a deed of donation in his court in Düren in November 775 for this little monastery of St. Maria "Albstat" in "Holzchiricha" in favor of St. Boniface - i.e. the Fulda monastery - who owned it until the secularization of the Fulda monastery in 1802 remained. After changing owners, the property had been vacant since 1995 and was finally acquired by Gertraud Gruber in 2002 . She made it available to Jäger for his work, who after a controversy with the then prefect of the Roman Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, Joseph Ratzinger, had given up the management of a similar seminar house in Würzburg. After restoration and renovation, the Benediktushof began operating in its current form in December 2003 under the direction of Jäger. Doris Zölls and Alexander Poraj have been running the Benediktushof since 2007; Fernand Braun was also a member of the spiritual advisory board from 2013 to 2019, of which Daniel Rothe has also been a member since 2020.

subjects

The Benediktushof offers events on religious and spiritual topics. Zen and Christian contemplation play a central role in this . In addition, symposia on philosophical-theological and scientific topics are held as part of an academy for leadership skills.
