Bengü Erden (born April 23, 1979 in İzmir ) is a Turkish dance and pop singer who works with arabesque elements .

Life

Her first musical experience was in elementary school with the Izmir State Symphony Orchestra. Bengü graduated from middle school and high school at the "Private American School Izmir". Her first musical appearance was a role in Oliver Twist .

In 1996 she took part in the talent show Pop Show96 on Show TV and came second. During this show she made the acquaintance of pop singer and jury member Kenan Doğulu . Doğulu offered her a collaboration for her own album. For this Bengü moved to Istanbul, where she studied at Marmara University . While working on her album, she was also the vocalist for Kenan Doğulu.

Her first album Hoş geldin (Welcome) was released in 2000. The pieces of music were contributed by many well-known Turkish artists such as Kenan Doğulu, Şehrazat and Yıldız Tilbe .

Bengü gave around 300 concerts at home and abroad over the next few years. She also hosted a program called Elifnağme on Atv .

In February 2018 her song "Hodri Meydan" was banned by the TRT . In addition to her song, other songs by popular artists have been censored. No defined reason was given, but according to a collective list of possible reasons, the songs are intended to be morally objectionable or associated with terrorist activity. Since there is no defined reason and the song was listed under the possibilities, it is not possible to clearly say what is meant.
