Benjamin Boone (* 1963 in Statesville , North Carolina ) is an American jazz saxophonist, composer and music teacher.

Live and act

Boone studied at the University of Tennessee , Boston University and the University of South Carolina , where his teachers included Jerry Coker , Gordon Goodwin , Charles Fussell , John A. Lennon and Bernard Rands . He has taught at various universities in the United States and received the 1999 Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching . Since 2000 he has been an assistant professor at California State University, Fresno . He has also given lectures and master classes at the Univeritatea de Stat Alec Russo in Moldova, the Otto von Guericke University in Magdeburg, the University of Erlangen , the Charles University in Prague and the University of Cape Town .

He composed works for solo instruments, chamber music, orchestral works and works for jazz ensembles. As the leader of his own jazz quartet, he performed with musicians such as Donald Ray Brown , Ernie Watts , Slide Hampton and Randy Brecker . With Louis Bellson and Peter Erskine he gave the world premiere of Bellson's Concerto for Three Percussionists . He has received awards from ASCAP , Billboard Magazine , Boston University, and the National Association of Composers for his compositions . Works by Boone have been recorded on CD by musicians such as the National Flute Choir , the cellist Elizabeth Morrow , the clarinetist F. Gerard Errante , the saxophonist Cliff Leaman and the violinist Stefan Poetzsch , with whom he also composed pieces.

In addition, Boone worked as a music manager in New York and participated in scientific recordings of infrasound communication of rhinos in Zimbabwe and Zambia.
