Benjamin Tim Hadrigan (born November 18, 2001 in Klosterneuburg , Austria ) is an Austrian author and young entrepreneur.

Life

Benjamin Hadrigan grew in Klosterneuburg on, was the youngest at 14 years Boy Austria in a Vienna high school and started at age 15 in parallel next to the school Business Law at the Vienna University of Economics to study as an extraordinary student. Hadrigan is preparing for the Matura 2020 as an external student .

On March 23, 2019 Benjamin Hadrigan published his book "#Lernsieg - Successful learning with Snapchat, Instagram and Whatsapp" in the book publisher edition a . The book reached the bestseller list of the main association of the Austrian book trade .

According to his own statements, he had already founded a company before and was described by the tabloid media as the youngest designer and entrepreneur in Austria. His brother of legal age had founded the company for him, but Benjamin Hadrigan managed it himself immediately. The company's website is currently (May 2020) unavailable. Hadrigan founded Lernsieg Mobile Media GmbH on January 1st, 2020.

In May 2020 he was ranked 30th among the most important stars of the digital world in the OMR 50 ranking, published by OMR and the Hamburger Abendblatt , among others .

App learning victory

Hadrigan's app "Lernsieg" was launched on November 15, 2019. With the app, students in Austria and Germany can anonymously rate their teachers and their school with stars. After strong protests by the teachers' union and "a flood of hate mail sent to Hadrigan that would not be acceptable to any student", the app was taken offline again after just three days with 70,000 downloads and thus first place in the ranking. Hadrigan's app went online again on February 20, 2020 after the data protection authority confirmed that the teacher data was in the entrance with the General Data Protection Regulation. Hadrigan's intention behind the app is the clear feedback that teachers receive not only from one student, but from several directly.

In March 2020 it became known that Hadrigan had distributed a manipulated article on Instagram according to the online magazine Futurezone, which was proven by a screenshot. Information about bad reviews and other negative parts of the article about the app were manipulated by image editing.

Despite the high number of downloads, users of the app do not give it a good rating, both Apple and Google rate the app with around 2.5 out of 5 stars, with a clear gap between mostly positive ratings from students and negative ratings from teachers. Previously, SEC Research made it known that ratings in the Lernsieg app can be manipulated with an SMS gateway . However, Lernsieg reacted promptly and closed this security gap within two days by completely changing the entire registration process. It is no longer possible to see who has given which ratings if you know the telephone numbers of the students. Despite great criticism and strong counter-campaigns on the part of the teachers' union against Benjamin Hadrigan, the Austrian data protection authority checked the app for its admissibility under data protection law and found it to be permissible. With the help of investors, the technical development of the app will be worked on and new functions will be developed.

Works

In the book he strongly criticizes the Austrian and German school system, which he considers to be underdigitized and not working in keeping with the times. He believes it is right to invest in advanced training for teachers to use smartphones, so that they can also learn new ways to teach their students how to enjoy learning with modern technology.
Bayerischer Rundfunk reported on the book and said that the author wanted to show other students how to learn properly. He is critical of the school system failing to teach this to students. "He blames the outdated school system when students do badly. Because the school would take away natural curiosity and the desire to learn." The Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung notes that the author quickly becomes specific with his suggestions. There he clearly explains his learning concept.
