Benno Friedrich Brand von Lindau (born February 1, 1571 in Wiesenburg / Mark ; † December 25, 1625 ) was a member of the Fruit Bringing Society .

Life

Brand von Lindau was the son of the Electoral Saxon governor Friedrich Brand von Lindau and his wife Maria von Pflug .

After a short study, Brand von Lindau was appointed assessor at the Saxon court in Wittenberg .

In 1591 he became known across the borders when he fought , also in court, against the abolition of exorcism .

In 1593 he married Maria von Brösicken . With her he has two daughters, Benigna Brand von Lindau and Christina Brand von Lindau . His wife Maria died on September 4, 1612. After a long period of mourning, Brand von Lindau married Lucretia von Putlitz from the Brandenburg nobility family Gans zu Putlitz in 1614 . He also had two daughters with her, Hippolyta Brand von Lindau and Maria Brand von Lindau . His four sons-in-law ( Johann von Rohr , Kurt Dietrich from the Winckel , Joachim Christian von Metzsch and August von Hanow ) later became members of the Fruit Bringing Society like him.

At the age of 50, Brand von Lindau was accepted into the fruit-bearing society . Prince Ludwig I of Anhalt-Köthen gave him the company name of the stiff and the motto in the damp . A book tree ( Fagus sylvatica or Fagus f. Atropurpurea ) was assigned to him as an emblem. Brand von Lindau's entry can be found in the Koethen Society Register under no.36.

In 1623 he acquired the Grochwitz manor from Albrecht von Wuthenau.

Because of his fortune and his lands, Brand von Lindau was also nicknamed the rich . Benno Friedrich Brand von Lindau died on December 25, 1625 in Wiesenburg at the age of 54.
