Benno Koppenhagen

Bernhard "Benno" Koppenhagen (born June 6, 1867 in Germersheim , † January 20, 1934 in Schleusingen ) was a German doctor and writer.

Life

Koppenhagen received his doctorate in Würzburg in 1893 . He was a country doctor and gynecologist with his own practice in Untereubrunn and Schleusingen. He had beds in the hospital in Schleusingen. In addition to his work as a doctor, he emerged as a writer.

After the National Socialists came to power in 1933 , members of the local SA put up signs in front of his house saying Germans do not go to Jews. on. A little later, the hospital canceled his contract. He committed suicide on January 20, 1934.

In Schleusingen, Dr.-Benno-Koppenhagen-Strasse was named after him.
