Bent Vinn Nielsen
Bent Vinn Nielsen (born March 4, 1951 in Vendsyssel ) is a Danish writer who received both the Critics' Awards and the Søren Gyldendal Prize .
Life
Vinn Nielsen, who came from a working-class family, left school after the ninth grade and then worked for a few years as an unskilled worker.
In 1978 he made his literary debut with the novel Arbejdssky , which on the one hand belongs to the classic working class literature , but on the other hand is also shaped by language experiments. The subsequent novel tetralogie , which consists of the individual works Valdemars ære (1979), Fuglene omkring os (1979), Opkøb af dødsboer (1980) and Det sejrende proletariat (1981), is determined by the same illusory familiarity of working conditions and way of thinking as his Debut novel.
His breakthrough came in 1992 with the novel Realiteternes verden , in whose linguistic style both the humorous and grotesque overtones turn out to be a feature that makes the description of unemployment and illegal work in the Danish provinces appear realistic.
This theme also followed in later works such as En skidt knægt (1998), for which he received the critic prizes in 1998 and the DR Novel Prize in 1999 , and the subtle novel En bedre verden (2004), the witty but thought-provoking portrayal of one Man in the midlife crisis . In 2001 he was awarded the Søren Gyldendal Prize and in 2006 his life's work was honored with the Grand Prize of the Danish Academy .
On June 2, 2010, he gave an author reading at the Scandinavian Seminar of the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg .
