Det Danske Akademis Store Pris
Det Danske Akademis Store Pris or Grand Prix of the Danish Academy has been awarded since 1961 and is considered one of the most prestigious literary prizes in Denmark . It was initiated by the Danish Academy and awarded annually between 1961 and 1982; In 1982, it was decided to make an award every two years.
In the first few years the prize money was 50,000 DKK , the Kulturministeriet of the Poul Schlüter government doubled the amount to 100,000 DKK in 1982 and increased it to 200,000 DKK between 1992 and 1997. In 1998 the prize money was 250,000 DKK and since 2000 the prize has been worth 300,000 DKK.
The winners are always recognized for their entire work or life's work.
