Dorrit Willumsen
Dorrit Willumsen (born August 31, 1940 in Copenhagen ) is a Danish writer.
Life
Willumsen was born in 1940 in the Nørrebro district of Copenhagen . After graduating from school in 1960, she worked in the office, in a library, in the art trade and in a laboratory, before she came out in 1965 with her first publication, the Knagen short story collection . Since then she has published numerous novels and biographies , collections of short stories, dramas and poems.
In German-speaking countries, Willumsen became particularly popular with her novel biography Bang. En roman om Herman Bang (1996/1997; Ger. 1998 as Bang ) known, which mainly refers to the fate of the decades of police persecution and social ostracism of the Danish writer and journalist Herman Bang (1857-1912) as a homosexual in Denmark and in all European countries that he visited or in which he tried to gain a foothold. In 1997, Willumsen was awarded the Nordic Council Literature Prize for Bang .
Willumsen has been married to the poet and playwright Jess Ørnsbo since 1963 ; they have their son Tore Ørnsbo (* 1970), who is also a poet. Willumsen lives in Vesterbro , Copenhagen.
