De Gyldne Laurbær

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

De Gyldne Laurbær ( German mostly: Golden Laurel) is a Danish literary prize that has been awarded by the Danish Book Dealers Club ( Boghandlklubben ) in the field of fiction since 1949 . The awarding of the Golden Laurel is the only task of the booksellers club, its other activities were discontinued in 2010.

The award winner will be chosen by the affiliated Danish booksellers by postal vote. Since 1954, it has been awarded in the first quarter of the previous year. The award originally consisted of an engraved gold pin. Today the prize is endowed with 10,000 crowns (a good 1,300 €) and a book gift worth 2,500 crowns (around 330 €).

Individual evidence

  1. ^ Danish title in plural. Singular form, for example, in the information from Hanser-Verlag , available on the web at Leif Davidsen . Weltbild-Verlag is also promoting the price in the singular translation, see dog heads ( memento from January 16, 2014 in the Internet Archive ). The singular is anchored in the German poetic convention to use “honorable laurel” as a rule in singular (in contrast to, for example, “winning the laurels”). It is used in the same way in heraldry, compare laurel (heraldry) . Perhaps the “Golden Laurel” awarded by the German TV broadcasting company (GDR) also had an impact on parts of the literary scene .
