Jens Christian Grøndahl
Jens Christian Grøndahl (born November 9, 1959 in Lyngby ) is a Danish writer .
Life
After graduating from N. Zahles Gymnasium, Grøndahl studied philosophy at the University of Copenhagen from 1977 to 1979 . He then completed a degree in directing at Den Danske Filmskole at the same time as Lars von Trier . Since completing his studies in 1983, he has mainly worked as a writer.
He made his literary debut after a stay in Northern Italy in 1985 with Kvinden i midten . Grøndahl, who was also Vice President of PEN Denmark between 1990 and 1991, subsequently wrote novels such as Indian Summer (1994), which was awarded the Herman Bangs Mindelegat by the Danish Writers' Association (1995). In his essay collections Ved flodens munding (1995) and Night mail (1998) he not only reflected on his work as a writer, but also dealt with political and cultural issues. He was also closely associated with the Aarhus Theater between 1997 and 1999 as a playwright and wrote the two plays Hvor var vi lykkelige (1998) and De sorte skove (1999) during this time .
Jens Christian Grøndahl is married for the second time.
