Peter Urban Hall

Peter Urban-Halle (born January 16, 1951 in Halle (Saale) ) is a German literary critic and literary translator .

Life

Peter Urban-Hall grew up in Dortmund and completed a study of the German and Scandinavian studies in Berlin and Copenhagen , he with the master's degree graduated (with a thesis on the German playwright Ernst Toller ). In the 1980s he was a lecturer in Scandinavian Studies at the Free University of Berlin and lives as a translator and literary critic for Deutschlandradio Kultur and Deutschlandfunk and various daily newspapers in Berlin. He is a connoisseur of French and Scandinavian literature and acts as a moderator of literary events. From 1993 to 1995 he was editor of the Berlin magazine for literature LITFASS.

Urban-Halle translates fiction from Danish and French into German . He is a member of the Association of German Writers and the Association of German-Language Translators of Literary and Scientific Works .

Together with the author Bjarne Reuter, he was awarded the German Youth Literature Prize in 2000 for the work "Hodder der Nachtschwärmer", which he translated ; In 2010 Urban-Halle received the European Translator Award Offenburg and in 2013 the Danish Translator Award together with Ulrich Sonnenberg .
