Well Marie Aidt

Naja Marie Aidt (born December 24, 1963 in Aasiaat , Greenland ) is a Danish writer .

Life

Well Marie Aidt grew up in Greenland, where her father worked as a teacher . In 1970 the family moved back to Denmark after their father started teaching in Copenhagen . After her parents divorced, she lived with her mother and her new husband in the Copenhagen district of Vesterbro . As a teenager she got involved in the Danmarks Kommunistiske Ungdomforbund, the youth association of the Danmarks Kommunistiske Parti (DKP), and there she met the playwright Line Knutzon. She then moved out of her parents' house and in the following years lived with the musician Martin Heurlin, with whom she has three sons who were born in 1982, 1989 and 1991.

She made her writing debut in 1991 with the volume of poetry Så længe jeg er ung . Shortly thereafter, she divorced Heurlin and married the cameraman Eigil Bryld , with whom she has a son born in 2003. In 1996 she was awarded the Herman Bang - Scholarship ( Herman Bang Mindelegat ) of the Danish Writers' Association ( Dansk Forfatterforening ).

In addition to other collections of poetry, novellas such as Vandmærket (1993), plays , songs and children's books , she also wrote the script for the film Strings (2005). Her plays such as Tjenende ånder (1998) and Siska (2000) have already been accepted into the drama department of the Danish Royal Library .

She has lived and worked in New York City since 2008 . Most recently she published the poetry collections Poesibog (2008) and Alting Blinker (2009) as well as the novel Rock, Paper, Scissors in 2015 (in German 2017 under Schere, Stein, Papier ).
