- Canada : The Danuta Gleed Literary Award is the first ever collection of short stories that a Canadian writer has published in English . The honor is awarded annually by the Writers 'Union of Canada , the Canadian writers' association, and was established by John Gleed, who wanted to use this foundation to preserve the memory of his second wife, the Canadian writer Danuta Gleed and her favorite literary genre. The proceeds from Danuta Gleed's own collection of short stories, One for the Chosen , which was published posthumously in 1997 by BuschekBooks, will continue to flow into the award fund .
