Daniel de Roulet (born February 4, 1944 in Geneva ) is a Swiss writer .
Life
De Roulet worked for many years as an architect and computer scientist , since 1997 he has devoted himself exclusively to his writing. The author, who lives in France, has received various awards from France, Switzerland (2003 Spycher: Leuk Literature Prize ) and the USA . Many of his works have been translated into German . There are also translations into English , Dutch and Italian . He is a member of the Swiss Authors' Association AdS .
Most of de Roulet's novels belong to the "simulation humaine" around a large Swiss-Japanese family. They address the 20th century, in a broader sense the transition of global society from industrial to digital culture with all its cultural and political consequences. There are also a number of works that are not fictional as “Chroniques”, a kind of autobiography (“Double”) based on the 3.3 kilo files that the Swiss political police had compiled over years of surveillance.
Media furore has de Roulet in March 2006 by his literary report A Sunday in the mountains energized, in which he is to to unexplained at this time arson attack on the Chalet of Axel Springer in Gstaad committed on 5 January 1975th De Roulet justified his act with the fact that he believed at the time that Springer was a Nazi (which many believed at the time, e.g. the later Springer biographer Michael Jürgs ). The tenor of the book reviews was mostly negative in Switzerland, extremely positive in France, and the same majority in Germany. Particularly criticized was the naivety of the young Daniel de Roulet, who set fire to a chalet out of “love” and that he first insured himself about the statute of limitations before he published his report. However, the act was barred long before.
