Barbara Trotter
Barbara Traber (born February 23, 1943 in Thun ) is a Swiss writer , journalist and editor . She is the author of literature in Standard German and in Bernese dialect and a translator (from French and English ).
Life
After compulsory schooling, Barbara Traber attended the business school in Bern , from which she graduated with a commercial diploma. She then worked in London as Elias Canetti's private secretary . In Lagos she was the secretary of the Swiss ambassador. She then started working as a flight attendant with Trans World Airlines in Paris.
After her return to Switzerland, she worked as a secretary at Hallwag-Verlag and at Radio Studio Bern. She has been a freelance writer since 1979, also working as an editor, proofreader, journalist, translator and editor of numerous dialect anthologies .
Barbara Traber was married to Markus Traber († 2010), the well-known songwriter and member of the Bernese Troubadours . She lives with her family in Worb .
She is a member of the Bernese Writers' Association (BSV) and the Association of Swiss Authors . From 1993 to 1999 she was General Secretary of the German-speaking Swiss PEN Center .
