Sven Holm
Sven Holm (born April 13, 1940 in Copenhagen - † May 11, 2019 ) was a Danish writer . He wrote short stories, novels, plays, radio plays, scripts and poetry.
Life
Holm was the son of the Danish professional officer Vagn Holm and Else Schalburg, née Knudsen. He studied at the University of Copenhagen from 1960 to 1962 and worked as a tutor, librarian, surveyor and other professions. After that he was a freelance writer. In 1964 he married Sandra Margaretha Eriksson. The marriage ended in divorce in 1972.
In 1961 Holm made his debut with the collection of novels Den store Fjende ("The Great Enemy"). The cover story is about a church on a cliff by the sea that is gnawed by the waves. He describes how the church slowly crumbles and collapses and finally disappears into the sea. The science fiction novel Termush, Atlanterhavskysten (1967, German Termush, Atlantic Coast ) is about the privileged survivors of a nuclear war, who believe they are safe in a luxury bunker, but are doomed after all.
Holm was considered a politically committed author. He was a member of the Danish PEN and since 2001 a member of Det Danske Akademi .
