Berberis × mentorensis is a species of the genus barberries ( Berberis ). It is a hybrid of the Thunberg barberry ( Berberis thunbergii ) and Julianes barberry ( Berberis julianae ). Berberis × mentorensis originated as a cultivated form and is rarely used as an ornamental shrub, it forms impenetrable hedges. Berberis × mentorensis is frost hardy and can withstand hot and dry summers.

The deciduous (deciduous) upright shrub reaches heights of growth of up to 2 meters. The brown branches of the shrub are bare and strongly furrowed to angular, densely packed and have long thorns. The leaves are obovate, up to 4.5 centimeters long and are partly full-margined, partly with three spiked teeth on each side. In autumn they sometimes take on a scarlet color. The light yellow flowers appear in May and stand alone or in pairs. The fruits are ellipsoidal and cloudy red.
