Berckholtz
Berckholtz is the name of a Rostock , later Baltic , then Baden and finally Saxon family.
The family is not related to the Bergholz family, which expired around 1820 and was previously enrolled in the Livonian knighthood .
history
The family is divided into two lines with different coats of arms.
The first line of Berckholtz with Jacob Johann Berckholtz (1750-1812), Rigischer merchant and elder of the great guild, ibid. On March 25, 1793 in Vienna , was raised to the imperial nobility . The first verifiable name bearer was Georg Berckholtz († 1696 in Ruhental , Courland ). This line has gone out. In Elizabeth of Berckholtz (1814-1892) with Diploma of 6 May 1887 as v Offensandt. Berckholtz came to the Baden nobility.
From the second line Berkholz received the mayor of Riga and imperial Russian real councilor, Arend Berckholtz in 1876 the Russian hereditary nobility under the name, which was registered on January 11, 1877 in the nobility register of the Livonia province . This line was matriculated in Saxony in 1927 and is currently in existence.
