The Berghaus Bäregg (also Bäregghütte ) is a new hut built in 2006 in the Swiss community of Grindelwald , Canton of Bern . The hut is located on the western slope of the Mattenberg at an altitude of 1772 m above sea level. M. in the Bernese Alps .
On April 25, 2006, construction work began to build the new hut. After only two months of construction, the Bäregghütte was completed on June 27, 2006. The Bäregghütte is the successor to the Stieregghütte ( Lage ), which literally stood on the edge of the abyss due to a landslide on the right lateral moraine of the Lower Grindelwald Glacier in the spring of 2005 and was therefore burned down on June 3, 2005 to prevent a fall on the glacier.
From 1858 there was a first Bäregg inn near the Pfingstegg private valley . However, this was destroyed by avalanches in 1868 and 1906 and abandoned in 1940.
