The listed Protestant mountain church Masserberg is located in the climatic health resort Masserberg on the ridge of the Thuringian Forest in the Hildburghausen district in Thuringia .

From 1753 to 1758 the first church was built in Masserberg , which burned down on September 4, 1880 along with thirteen other houses. The newly built mountain church, set back from the street, was inaugurated on October 9, 1883. An independent pastorate had existed since 1856.

The facades , the gable roof , the main portal and the church tower are covered with slate . The bells are in a separate bell tower.

Inside there are wooden benches in the middle and a single-storey, three-sided gallery . The three-meter-high and 2.65-meter-wide wooden sculpture of Christ the King, a work by the Greiz artist Elly-Viola Nahmmacher from 1980, hangs above the altar . The interior was colored in white and green tones between 1983 and 1984.

The Schleiferladen organ , a work by the master organ builder Guido Knauf from Gotha with nine stops on a manual and pedal , dates from 1883. In 1997 the organ building company Schönefeld from Stadtilm restored the instrument.
