history

Josef Bergmann, who immigrated from Bohemia , founded a hair trade in Laupheim in 1873. With the hair was not only acted, but it was also processed in theater wigs, carnival wigs , hairpieces , beards , braids and hair preparations. At that time, products that are no longer common today, such as watch chains made of real hair and hairnets made of real hair for the Chinese market, were no longer common . During the period of inflation in the 1920s, the company lost all liquid capital.

During the Second World War, the company was “Aryanized” and called itself Württembergische Haarfabrik . The owners, who belonged to the Laupheim Jewish community , had to emigrate to the United States. After the war, the company was transferred back to Marco Bergmann in 1952, who had a fatal accident in the same year. Since then, the Freund family has run the company under the name Bergmann. In 1966 a Japanese company invented the synthetic fiber Kanekalon , which is also used as synthetic hair in hair processing.

In the 1970s and 1980s Bergmann developed his own synthetic hair fiber. The company's export share rose to 50% of its production. Since the company was founded in 1873, the company has been a leading manufacturer, processor and dealer of hair products in the branch in Germany with a constant 50 employees and representative offices in 19 countries and 6,000 dealers. Makeup artists from Broadway productions and nearly all European theaters use the company's products.
