The mountain lake , also known as Mühlteich , is a listed pond in Harzgerode in the district of Stadt Güntersberge in Saxony-Anhalt .
location
The pond is located at the western entrance to Güntersberg. North of the portion surrounded by forests Mountain Lake extending federal highway 242 , on its south side of the Selketalbahn and Selketalstieg .
Design and history
The mountain lake is an artificial pond . The dam at its eastern end dams the Selke flowing in from the west . In addition, the Katzsohlbach and another stream also flow into the pond.
The pond was created in 1751/52 to get impact water for the pits in Straßberg further east . Later the pond also supplied a water mill built near the pond .
On the east bank of the pond there is the Waldbad bathing establishment , on the northeast corner there is a restaurant and boat rental.
In the local register of monuments , the artificial pond is recorded as a monument under registration number 094 18666 .
