The European route 4 leads past Bergsviken over a bridge over the Piteälven to Piteå . From the E 4, Länsväg 373 branches off in Bergsviken in the direction of Arvidsjaur .

In Bergsviken, Norrbotten's first steam sawmill was opened in 1858 , which was an important economic impetus for the area around Piteå and for the development of Norrbotten’s industry in the 19th century as a whole.
