The Beriev MBR-7 ( Russian Бериев МБР-7 , also Beriev MS-8 , МС-8) is a single-engine flying boat in shoulder- wing design of the Soviet design office Beriev . The first flight took place in April 1939.

development

The machine was made entirely of wood . The motor, which drove a metal pusher propeller WISch-2PT, was on struts above the wing. Support floats were installed under the wing.

The deployment should take place as an armed short sea scout. The armament consisted of a SchKAS machine gun in a mount behind the wing and a rigidly forward-pointing machine gun, each with a caliber of 7.62 mm. Furthermore, a total of 500 kg of drop armament could be carried. The MBR-7 was supposed to replace the older Beriev MBR-2 .

The flight performance was very appealing. At the end of October 1939 there was an accident in which the machine was largely destroyed. The reason was the insufficient flight stability at low speeds. Due to these constant difficulties during takeoff and landing, no series production was started.
