The company Berijew ( Russian Таганрогский авиационный научно-технический комплекс имени Г. М. Бериева / Taganrog awijazionny Nauchno-technitscheski kompleks imeni GM Berijewa , German: Scientific-Technical Complex for aviation Taganrog "GM Beriev") is a Russian manufacturer of aircraft owned and to the Irkut holding.

history

The Experimental Design Office 49 (OKB-49) was formed on June 29, 1934 in Taganrog from the Experimental Design Office for Naval Aircraft (OKB MS) and Georgi Mikhailovich Beriyev was appointed chief designer. The construction of the types developed under his supervision took place in the affiliated State Aircraft Plant No. 31 (GAS-31). Due to the Second World War , the GAS-31 had to be evacuated to Tblissi in the summer of 1942 . In its place, after the end of the war, the aircraft factory No. 86 was built, which now took over the production of the types developed by OKB. The design office specialized in the development and manufacture of flying boats and amphibious aircraft . However, conventional machines such as the Beriev Be-30 were also designed and manufactured. From the 1960s, the GAS-86 produced the strategic bomber aircraft Tu-95 of OKB Tupolew and its sea surveillance variant Tu-142.

The best- known types were the multi-purpose flying boat MBR-2 and the sea reconnaissance aircraft Be-6 and Be-12

Today the company operates as Beriev Aircraft Company under the leadership of Viktor Anatolyevich Kobsew . At the moment (2004) they are working on an overweight amphibium with a launch mass of 1000 tons.
