The Beriev MP-1 ( Russian Бериев МП-1 ) was a Soviet flying boat .
development
The MP-1 was the transport variant of the Beriev MBR-2 and, like this, a single-engine high-decker. However, the armories and the external load stations had been dismantled. This resulted in a better flight performance compared to the original model. This was used to set a series of high altitude world records for women in 1937, which Polina Ossipenko set .
The MP-1 was the first Soviet passenger flying boat to offer a level of comfort worth mentioning. On the route from Yalta to Odessa , on which the MP-1 were normally used, passengers were able to enjoy the comfortable seats, the tasteful interior and the ventilation system. The first flight of the machine took place in 1933. The Aeroflot started in 1934 the machines in service use. Some of them remained in use until 1950.
The cargo variants MP-1T and MP-1Tbis were usually converted MBR-2, in which the armament was expanded. The machines were mostly used in the polar regions, where, in addition to the actual cargo plane role, they were also used as photo aircraft and for ice or fish observation.
