Beringer (Abbot of St. Blasien)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Beringer (also Beringerus ; * in Höchenschwand ; † 974 in St. Blasien ) was prior from 934 and abbot from 946 to 974 in the monastery of St. Blasien in the southern Black Forest .

After Beringer's death, no abbot has survived until 1045. After him, the brothers chose Yzo, who was not confirmed and was finally deposed and died around 994. This was followed by Wernherus, Sigefrido († 1021) and Beringerus II († March 29, 1045), who, however, are not counted as abbots since they were probably only priors.
