Thilo von Westernhagen

Thilo von Westernhagen (born January 14, 1950 in Preetz ; † January 11, 2014 in Lübeck ) was a German composer and pianist .

Life

Thilo von Westernhagen came from the noble family von Westernhagen . He was the son of the dentist Wolfgang von Westernhagen (1921–2004) and after graduating from high school in 1968 he first studied dentistry at the University of Kiel , but then switched to music.

As a composer he was best known for his film scores, including the Tatort episodes The invisible opponent and cuddly toys . But he also composed songs, chamber music and operas.

Since 1998 he has lived and worked on the Dönkendorf cultural property in the Kalkhorst community in Klützer Winkel .

He was married to the singer Monika, geb. Borchfeldt (* 1964). The couple, who also published a crime thriller together, had two daughters.
