Berlin Women's Prize
The Berlin Women's Prize is an award from the State of Berlin . It has been awarded since 1987 to women who are particularly committed to the emancipation of the sexes and to the equality of women .
Announcement and awarding of prizes
Individuals or groups can submit suggestions for people to be recognized. The award winner should meet at least one of the following criteria:
- Special and above-average commitment to the emancipation of the sexes
- Forward-looking and innovative ideas and concepts
- A position as a pioneer in a key area of women's political activity
- Particular commitment to social justice and the universal validity of human rights, against racism and against anti-Semitism
The Berlin Women's Prize is awarded exclusively to women working in Berlin by the Senate Administration responsible for the gender equality department . An independent jury will decide on the award. The award ceremony takes place annually on International Women's Day on March 8th as part of a festive event.
