Claudia von Gélieu (born Claudia Faulstich on July 31, 1960 ) is a German political scientist .

Life

Claudia von Gélieu studied at the Otto Suhr Institute at the Free University of Berlin . During the 1980s she was politically active in the SPD , including several years Juso district chair in Berlin-Schöneberg . Because of the renewed election of Eberhard Diepgen as governing mayor of Berlin in a grand coalition, she left the SPD.

On International Women's Day in 1988, she conducted a city tour on women's history in Berlin. Due to the great demand, she has been working as a women's history researcher ever since. The results are conveyed in guided tours, lectures and publications. Since 1994 she has been running “women's tours” with Beate Neubauer and other colleagues. She belongs to the nationwide network Miss Marple's Sisters - Historical search for traces of women on site . She is a member of the Association of Those Persecuted by the Nazi Regime - Bund der Antifaschisteninnen and Antifaschisten (VVN) and is involved in the Olga Benario gallery .

In 2001 she was awarded the Berlin Senate's Women's Prize.

She lives in Berlin-Rudow in the women's quarter.

On the night of February 9, 2017, her car was destroyed by a right-wing arson attack.
