Bernard Vitet
Bernard Vitet (born May 26, 1934 in Paris ; † July 3, 2013 ) was a French jazz trumpeter and composer .
Live and act
Vitet, born in Paris in 1934, only became interested in making music in 1952 after attending a jazz concert. He bought a trumpet and two years later made his first professional experience, initially with Django Reinhardt , Hubert Rostaing , Alix Combelle , Gus Viseur , Jef Gilson and Jean-Louis Chautemps . In 1964 he founded the first free jazz group in France with François Tusques , Jean-François Jenny-Clark and Aldo Romano and took part in all major festivals in France. He played longer with the Michel Portal UnitSteve Lacy , Barney Wilen , Sunny Murray and Alan Silva , but also with Don Cherry , Johnny Griffin , Albert Ayler , Archie Shepp , the Art Ensemble of Chicago and the Globe Unity Orchestra .
At the same time, he wrote film music and was involved for the first time in an interdisciplinary project with prose texts by Francis Ponge . From the mid-1970s he worked with Jean-Jacques Birgé and Francis Gorgé and founded with them the group Un drame musical instantané , which existed until his death , whereby the name stands for the program of inventing musical dramas from the moment. The group recorded 17 albums (and also films) at their own expense and under their own direction, with the trio being expanded to include large formations.
Later Vitet devoted himself more to composing. He also invented instruments.
