Bernardo Kliksberg

Bernardo Kliksberg (* in Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine economist , sociologist and journalist who is best known for his work in the field of development theory. He is considered the developer of the concept of social management (not to be confused with social management ).

Today he is director of the Inter-American Development Institute, which belongs to the Inter-American Development Bank and is based in Washington, DC, and has worked in his career at the United Nations and as an advisor to Presidents Néstor Kirchner and Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on social issues.

Life and career

Kliksberg comes from a humble background, his parents were Jewish immigrants from Poland . He studied economics , sociology , accounting and management at the University of Buenos Aires . He became known for his work from the 1970s onwards, which dealt with poverty reduction in Latin America. He worked with concepts such as social capital and corporate social responsibility (CSR), which ultimately led him to the concept of social management.

As a journalist he writes for Clarín , La Nación , O Globo and La República (Montevideo), among others . He has also published several books and specialist articles on the Holocaust .
