Bernd Baumgartl

Bernd Baumgartl (born June 11, 1964 in Salzburg ; † August 10, 2009 in Vienna ) was an Austrian political and social scientist with a focus on education.

Life

He worked mainly in south-east Europe and made a significant contribution to the participation of Austrian social research in European projects very early on.

After various language diplomas at universities in Salamanca, Mexico DF and Sofia, he completed a master's degree in Bulgarian and history at the University of Salzburg . This was followed by a PhD in social and political science at the European University Institute in Florence as well as research stays at MIT in Cambridge / MA and the London School of Economics in London. From 1995 to 1998 he worked for the European Training Foundation in Turin, whereupon he founded the research and consulting company Navreme Knowledge Development in Vienna, which he headed to the end.
