Bernd Drouven (born September 19, 1955 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German manager . He has been on the Supervisory Board of Salzgitter AG since May 2018 .

biography

Bernd Drouven received his Abitur in 1974 at the Albertus-Magnus-Gymnasium in Bensberg . He then studied from 1974 to 1979 at RWTH Aachen University and received his diploma in 1979 in the field of metallurgy and electrometallurgy. Drouven then continued his education at Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh ( Pennsylvania ) in the USA , where he received his doctorate in September 1982 in the Department of Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science.

His professional career began in October 1982 at Preussag AG Metall, where he worked in the metallurgical division for five years. From 1987 onwards, Drouven worked for eleven years as managing director in various Degussa AG companies (1988 as general manager of the IC Metals Division in Singapore, from 1988 to 1991 managing director of Demetron Gesellschaft für Elektronikwerkstoffe mbH). From 1991 to 1998 Drouven worked at Leybold Materials GmbH as managing director with global responsibility in the Leybold group for thin-film materials. In 1998 he moved to Possehl Besi Electronics NV as a Member of the Board and took over the management of Possehl Besi Electronics NV from 2000 as Chairman of the Board. Drouven has been with Aurubis AG since 2001 , where he first worked as Managing Director of Spiess-Urania Chemicals GmbH in Hamburg and was appointed Head of Strategic Planning / International Relations at Aurubis AG from the beginning of 2004. In 2006 he became a member of the company's Executive Board as Chief Financial Officer of Aurubis AG (then Norddeutsche Affinerie) and was appointed CEO by the Supervisory Board from January 16, 2008 to December 2011 . He gave up this post at the end of 2011 at his own request. From 2013 to 2018 he was on the Aurubis Supervisory Board, and from November 2014 to October 2015 he was again delegated to Aurubis AG as Chairman of the Board of Management.

Drouven is married to an American and has two sons. In his spare time he sails.
