Bernd Duvigneau

Bernd Duvigneau (born December 3, 1955 in Magdeburg ) is a former German canoeist . At the Summer Olympics in Moscow he was Olympic champion in the GDR's four-man kayak .

Duvigneau was an active athlete in the canoe racing department at SC Magdeburg from 1966 to 1982 . The first international success was the 1973 European Junior Championship over 500 m in single kayaks in Poland; In addition to numerous GDR championships in two and four-man kayaks , he won the world championship over 1000 m with the four-man from the GDR, as well as the double world championship over 500 m and 1000 m in 1978 and 1979.

Duvigneau was also able to win medals at two Olympic Games; first he was third in the 1000 m race in the K4 at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal , four years later he was able to win the gold medal in Moscow.

For his sporting successes he received the Patriotic Order of Merit in 1974 and 1980 .

Today, Duvigneau is the chairman of the referees and is a member of the board of the State Canoe Association of Saxony-Anhalt. He is married and has two children.
