Bernd Eufinger (born October 11, 1961 in Würges ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Eufinger was active as an artistic gymnast in his youth and made the jump into the youth national team. Only in the B-youth did he come to club football and played in the youth of the RSV Würges . He was able to quickly prove his talent there, so that at the age of 17 he was already playing with the seniors. Eufinger managed to qualify for the DFB Cup with the RSV . After victories against FC Ottering and OSC Bremerhaven , the third main round in the DFB Cup 1980/81 was reached. In the game on November 22, 1980 against VfL Osnabrück came the end for Würges in the cup competition. In this game, the young striker Eufinger drew attention, after which several professional clubs showed interest in signing his person. He decided on the Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt . In the previous year, Eintracht had won the DFB Cup, the competition in which Eufinger attracted attention, and the UEFA Cup . In addition to him there were several new players in the Eintracht squad for the 1981/82 season , including Joachim Löw , Armin Görtz and Holger Anthes .

Coach Lothar Buchmann made Eufinger wait a long time for his first appearance. On the 10th matchday, October 17, 1981 Eufinger was substituted in the game against Arminia Bielefeld in the 65th minute of the game. His debut was also his last appearance in the Eintracht jersey. In November of the same year he was under contract with VfL Osnabrück in the 2nd Bundesliga . After the encounter in the DFB-Pokal, the VfL officials didn’t let up and directed the dream player from coach Bernd Hoss to Osnabrück. After six weeks the coaching position in Osnabrück was reassigned, the new person in charge on the sidelines was Carl-Heinz Rühl , who did not rely on Eufinger. During his time in Osnabrück he only made five missions. In his last assignment he scored his first and last goals in a professional league. He then moved back to the amateur camp and played again for RSV Würges. Other clubs were the SV Wiesbaden and the TuS Beuerbach, where he worked as a player-coach in the district league.
