Bernd von Kanne
Bernd Freiherr von Kanne (born March 14, 1884 in Breitenhaupt , † September 20, 1967 ibid) was a German politician ( NSDAP ) and Reich Commissioner for Dairy and Fat Management and Reich Commissioner for the implementation of the market organization.
biography
Kanne came from a family of landowners from Steinheim (Westphalia) , whose family seat is the Breitenhaupt estate . During the First World War he served as Rittmeister in Hussar Regiment No. 8 . He was interested in history and bought, among other things, the Herstelle estate archive and other Westphalian archive goods in 1928 .
On August 4, 1933, he was appointed Reich Commissioner for Dairy and Fat Management and held this position until Adolf Hitler's death on April 30, 1945. During the Nazi era , this position gave him the nickname “Reichsmilchkanne”. From November 5, 1934, his area of responsibility also included the implementation of market regulations ; in this function he also made agreements in the field of tax auditing with the President of the Reich Association of German Agricultural Cooperatives.
Kanne was on November 12, 1933 as a member of the NSDAP ( membership number 349849) after the declaration of the NSDAP the only in the German Reich by the law against the formation of new parties member of the Reichstag and kept this mandate, even after the "election" of 29 March 1936.
He belonged to the SS (membership number 245.554) and was SS-Oberführer from 1935 to 1937 head of the clan office in the race and settlement main office . On November 9, 1936, he was promoted to SS Brigade Leader . As such, in 1936 he also became chairman of the “ Lebensborn ” association. He held this office until January 1, 1938, when the leadership of the association was taken over directly by Reichsführer SS Heinrich Himmler .
Awards
In 1936 Kanne was awarded the Hermann von Nathusius Medal of the DGfZ for his achievements in animal breeding. In 1956 the DGfZ was awarded the Adolf Köppe needle .
