Bernd Heemsoth (born October 10, 1966 in Oldenburg ) is a former soccer player and current soccer coach .

The defender Heemsoth began his professional career in 1989 at Hannover 96 in the 2nd Bundesliga , where he scored four goals in 87 games. In the 1991/92 season he won the DFB Cup with Hanover with a 4-3 win on penalties against Borussia Mönchengladbach .

From 1996 he was part of the VfL Osnabrück squad , in 1998 he moved to VfB Lübeck and in 1999 to VfB Oldenburg . In 2000 he joined SV Wilhelmshaven in the Regionalliga Nord and was used 21 times, but remained without a goal.

In 2003 he moved to Preußen Münster as an assistant coach . In this position he appeared again as a player when he was called into the squad on the last day of the match due to injury concerns, in order to be substituted on in the 88th minute in the decisive game for relegation against SG Wattenscheid . At first he was assistant to Peter Vollmann , later at the side of Hans-Werner Moors , Colin Bell and Stefan Grädler. In 2007 he was appointed assistant trainer at Rot Weiss Ahlen by Christian Wück .

After Wück's dismissal at Rot Weiss Ahlen on March 3, 2009, Heemsoth became head coach. However, this engagement was limited to the end of the season, as Heemsoth only had the A license and was therefore only able to work as a coach in the Bundesliga for a short time. His assistant coach was Stefan Grädler, who had meanwhile taken over the duties of sports director in Ahlen and was already working with Heemsoth at Preußen Münster.

On April 16, 2009, Stefan Emmerling was signed as the new trainer of Rot Weiss Ahlen, whereby Bernd Heemsoth was again assistant trainer. On February 15, 2010 he became assistant coach at Holstein Kiel at the side of Christian Wück .

After Peter Vollmann's dismissal at SV Wehen Wiesbaden on October 21, 2013, Heemsoth became interim trainer for one game. From July 2017 to July 2018, Heemsoth worked as an assistant trainer at SV Elversberg . In January 2010 he became assistant to the new head coach Lukas Kwasniok at 1. FC Saarbrücken .
