Bernd Kasten

Bernd Kasten (* 1964 ) is a German historian and archivist.

Life

Kasten studied history and English at Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel and Indiana University Bloomington . In 1990 he was awarded a Dr. phil. PhD. In 1990/91 he was employed at the Kiel University Library . After completing his traineeship at the Schleswig-Holstein State Archive and at the Marburg Archive School , he became head of the Schwerin City Archive in 1993 . In 2002 he was appointed to the Historical Commission for Mecklenburg . In 2008 he completed his habilitation at the University of Rostock .

From 2011 to 2017 he was chairman of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania regional association of the Association of German Archivists . Since April 2018 he has been chairman of the Mecklenburg History Association .
