Andreas Röpcke

Andreas Röpcke (born April 19, 1946 in Eutin ) is a German historian and archivist . He lives and works in Schwerin .

Life

Röpcke studied English and history from 1965 to 1971 at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel , the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München , the University of Edinburgh and the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg . With a doctoral thesis with Ahasver von Brandt , he was awarded a Dr. phil. PhD.

After that he was archivist at the Bremen State Archives for twenty years . In 1994 he became director of the Schwerin State Main Archives . In 1995 he was appointed to the Historical Commission for Mecklenburg . Since 2000 he has been the editor of the Mecklenburg Yearbooks , and in 2003 he took over the chairmanship of the Association for Mecklenburg History and Antiquity .

From 2006 he was head of the State Archives department in the State Office for Culture and Monument Preservation in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . In 2011 he retired.

His work focuses on regional history, church history , sphragistics and archive history.
