Bernd Kladny (born October 5, 1960 in Ansbach ) is a German orthopedic surgeon and trauma surgeon and has been the chief physician of the Herzogenaurach specialist clinic since 1996 . Since 2015 he has been Secretary General of the German Society for Orthopedics and Orthopedic Surgery (DGOOC). At the German Society for Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery (DGOU) he was Secretary General in 2015, Deputy Secretary General from 2016 to 2017, Secretary General in 2018 and 2019 and since 2020 he has again been Deputy Secretary General.

Life

Bernd Kladny studied human medicine from 1981 to 1987 at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg , where he received his doctorate in 1988. From 1988 to 1989 he was a research assistant at the Orthopedic University Clinic Erlangen. In 1989 and 1990 he worked as an assistant doctor at the Trauma Surgery Clinic and the Clinic for Plastic, Hand and Reconstructive Surgery at the Hannover Medical School . From there he moved back to the Orthopedic University Clinic Erlangen at the St. Marien Forest Hospital. In 1994 he became a specialist in orthopedics and was appointed senior physician. In 1996 he was appointed chief physician in the orthopedic department of the Herzogenaurach specialist clinic. In 1996 he completed his habilitation at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg and in 2003 he received an extraordinary professorship at the medical faculty.

Clinic and Research

The focus of clinical activity and research is in the area of ​​non-operative orthopedics and trauma surgery and rehabilitation, where he provided the first research approaches for telerehabilitation . The non-surgical treatment of spinal diseases and low back pain is of particular importance. Kladny is co-author of the National Care Guideline for Low Back Pain .

Functions

Bernd Kladny is a member of the German Society for Orthopedics and Orthopedic Surgery e. V. (DGOOC) and the German Society for Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery e. V. (DGOU). Since 2004 he has headed the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Section of the DGOOC. From 2009 to 2013 he headed the Rehabilitation - Physical Medicine section of the DGOU. In 2009 he was president of the VSO (Association of Southern German Orthopedists) and conference president of the annual meeting of the VSO e. V. in Baden-Baden. Kladny has been the 2nd chairman of the Association of Leading Orthopedists and Trauma Surgeons (VLOU) Bavarian State Association since 2009 and was elected to this position in 2013. The executive board of the German Society for Orthopedics and Orthopedic Surgery e. V. he has been a member since 2011 and in 2013 was President of the Society and Vice President of the German Society for Orthopedics and Orthopedic Surgery . In his function as President of DGOOC in 2013, he was responsible for the German Congress for Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery in Berlin together with Mr. Reinhard Hoffmann as President of the German Society for Trauma Surgery and Mr. Karl-Dieter Heller as Congress President of the Professional Association of Specialists in Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery .

In addition to numerous memberships in other specialist societies, Kladny is an advisory board member of the "Journal for Orthopedic and Trauma Surgery", the "Journal for Physical Medicine, Rehabilitation Medicine, Spa Medicine" and the "Journal for Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery" (ZfOU). He is also a scientific advisory board for AFOR and a technical orthopedic advisory board.

Award

Awarded the Hubert Waldmann plaque by the Professional Association for Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery (BVOU) for extraordinary services in the field as the highest award of the professional association (2009).
