Reinhard Hoffmann (born September 17, 1957 in Unna ) is a German orthopedic surgeon and trauma surgeon and has been the medical director of the BGU in Frankfurt am Main since 2004 . In 2013 he was President and from 2014 to 2017 General Secretary of the German Society for Trauma Surgery (DGU) and 2013 President, 2014 - 2015 Deputy General Secretary and from 2016 - 2017 General Secretary of the German Society for Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery (DGOU). Since October 2017 he has been Vice President of the Professional Association of Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery (BVOU).

biography

Reinhard Hoffmann studied human medicine from 1976 to 1983 at the Ruhr University in Bochum and at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf , where he received his doctorate in 1983 . From 1984 to 1992 he was an assistant doctor at the Center for Surgery at the Medical University of Hanover and from 1992 to 1999 first senior physician, then senior physician at the Clinic for Trauma and Reconstructive Surgery at the Charité Medical Faculty - University Medicine Berlin. In 1994 he completed his habilitation at the Free University of Berlin . From 1999 Hoffmann was chief physician for ten years and from 2001 also deputy medical director at the Offenbach Clinic . In 2000 he received an extraordinary professorship at the Charité Medical Faculty of the Humboldt University in Berlin . Since 2004, Hoffmann has been the chief physician of the specialist department for trauma surgery and orthopedic surgery and medical director of the professional association accident clinic in Frankfurt am Main. In 2015 he was appointed adjunct professor at the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main.

Functions

Reinhard Hoffmann has been a member of the German Society for Trauma Surgery (DGU) since 1987, where he was vice-president of the executive board of the specialist society and head of the professional committee until he became president of the DGU and the German Society for Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery (DGOU) in 2013 took over.

In addition to numerous memberships in other specialist societies, Hoffmann is co-editor of “Orthopädie und Unfallchirurgie - Mitteilungen und Nachrichten”, “Orthopädie und Unfallchirurgie up2date”, “Trauma und Berufskrankheit”, “Knie Journal” and editor (CME-Refresher) of the magazine “Zeitschrift for orthopedics and trauma surgery ”. He is also on the scientific advisory board of the magazine "Der Unfallchirurg" and editor of the "Professional Political Forum" of this magazine.
