Bernd Liepold-Mosser (* 1968 in Griffen ) is an Austrian theater, opera and film director, author, exhibition organizer and artistic director.

Career

Bernd Liepold-Mosser studied philosophy, sociology, German studies and political science in Vienna and Klagenfurt, and completed his studies with a master's degree and a doctorate in philosophy (Dr. mag. Phil.). From 1996 to 2001 he was in charge of the Peter Handke archive in Griffen. He has been working as a freelancer since 2001 and has realized numerous productions, plays, film projects and exhibitions.

He was chairman of the literary advisory board of the state of Carinthia, advisory board in the Federal Criminal Police Office for the Performing Arts and is a member of the Academy of the Nestroy Theater Prize and the Academy of Austrian Film . Liepold-Mosser is a political theater maker with a great affinity for pop culture.

Since 2003, Liepold-Mosser - together with the director Ute Liepold - has been co-director of the “Cloud Flight Theater” , which has made a name for itself as a production house for theaters in special locations. Cooperations exist with the Museum of Modern Art and the State Museum of Carinthia.

From 2008 to 2011 Liepold-Mosser headed the bilateral EU theater project “without borders - brez meja”. (Ö-SLO). Since 2016 he has been the artistic director of the “Flying Opera” production house, which specializes in music theater.

He is a lecturer at the institutes for philosophy, cultural analysis and German studies at the Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt , where he heads the art-based research project Performing Reality - Carinthia / Koroska 1920–2020 ".

Liepold-Mosser is the director of the klagenfurtFESTIVAL, which will take place for the first time in May 2020.

Liepold-Mosser lives with his wife Ute Liepold and their three children in Klagenfurt and Vienna.
