Bernd Rabe (politician)

Bernd Rabe (* around 1947 ; † 2016 or earlier) was a German social democratic local politician and non-fiction author, particularly on the history of the former industrial city of Linden .

Life

Bernd Rabe studied at the then Technical University of Hanover , where he wrote his dissertation on the subject of social democratic character in 1976 at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences . 3 generations of active party members in a working-class neighborhood . Oskar Negt wrote the foreword to the work, which was published as a book by the Frankfurt Campus Verlag in 1978 .

Rabe was already a founding member of the SPD local association Linden-Limmer in 1973 and was elected as one of the two deputy chairmen of Egon Kuhn alongside Friedhart Grote at the founding meeting. Also in 1973, when he was still a student, Bernd Rabe, whom later Chancellor Gerhard Schröder liked to parody, described his political activity as a "full-time job" in an interview in the news magazine Der Spiegel .

Rabe's 1984 publication Die “Sozialistische Front”. Social Democrats against Fascism 1933–1936 described Nils Hartung from Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR) as a standard work on the Socialist Front (SF), whose "heart" with an estimated 1000 members around Werner Blumenberg, especially in Linden and Ricklingen, was active.

In his book Linden, also published in 1984 . The author described the character of a working-class district in front of Hanover as “[...] hard-hitting, not averse to fights, as troublemakers, alcohol-savvy pubs - tough but warm and averse to anything aesthetic”.
