Egon Kuhn (born January 20, 1927 in Osnabrück ; † January 23, 2019 in Hanover ) was a German local politician , social democrat and trade unionist . As a so-called " Lindener Butjer " he organized history and cultural projects that were recognized nationwide.

Life

Egon Kuhn attended the Martin Luther School, later the Stüveschule in Osnabrück, and before graduating from school he joined the Deutscher Jungvolk and later the followers 1/78 of the Navy HJ . He began training as a technical draftsman in 1942 and at the same time attended Reichssportschule 1 “Gorch Fock” in Prieros near Königs Wusterhausen , where he successfully passed the maritime sport exams A, B and C (the latter on the sailing training ship “Horst Wessel” in Stralsund ). He underwent the nautical examination on the ocean-going yacht "Jutta". At the beginning of 1944 he was called up for alternative service of the Navy HJ - and since April 20, 1944 a member of the NSDAP - in October 1944 he was called up to the 24th ship trunk department of the Kriegsmarine in Kiel . After infantry training in Copenhagen , he became the SS Volunteer Panzer Division 5. "Wiking" in the Hungarian Veszprém allocated took part in the fighting and came in May 1945 in Upper Austria Windischgarsten in American captivity . He was interned in Grafenwöhr in the Upper Palatinate and released from captivity in September 1945.

After the end of the war, Kuhn was able to continue his training as a technical draftsman and complete it in 1947. He was temporarily Chancellor of the Lower Saxony State of Scouts and worked as a technical draftsman for the Osnabrück regional railway. Kuhn joined the German Youth Association dj.1.11 , organized himself in the ÖTV and became active in the Osnabrück city ​​youth ring and the youth union. Kuhn became a temporary member of the works council of the Osnabrück municipal utilities and joined the SPD in 1958 . In 1959 Kuhn became head of the special school boarding school of the workers' welfare in Osnabrück. In 1963 he became head in an apprentice boarding Oberpostdirektion Bremen in Oldenburg , was local Youth Committee Chairman of the German Postal Union and the Regional Youth Committee chairman of the DGB , Kreis Oldenburg chosen.

Egon Kuhn took over the management of the Linden leisure home in March 1965 , which he then ran for 27 years. He also founded the district archive and the Linden history workshop .
