Bernd Rieken

Bernd Rieken (born December 27, 1955 in Rispelerhelmt , East Frisia) is a German ethnologist , psychotherapist and university professor . He lives in Baden near Vienna and holds a professorship at the Sigmund Freud University .

Live and act

Rieken completed his studies in Mannheim and Vienna in 1989 with a PhD. phil. and in 1993 with the teaching examination for philosophy, pedagogy and psychology. From 1985 to 1998 he taught at the Bundesoberstufenrealgymnasium for music students in Vienna. In 2001 he also received his doctorate in folklore, in May 2005 he completed his habilitation with a thesis on storm surge disasters and their significance for the history of mentality in the Frisians.

In the Austrian Association for Individual Psychology he completed an analytical training according to Alfred Adler and worked there as a lecturer, program coordinator and general secretary. Since 2001 he has been teaching at the University of Vienna and at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . In June 2007 Bernd Rieken was appointed professor of psychotherapy science and head of the doctoral program at the Sigmund Freud University of Vienna .
