Bernd Saurer

Bernd Saurer (born June 26, 1974 ) is an Austrian politician of the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ). Since March 2019 he has been a member of the Austrian Federal Council delegated by the Vienna State Parliament .

Life

Bernd Saurer attended high school in Vienna . After graduating from high school , he began studying law , which he completed in 1998 with a master's degree. He then worked as a legal assistant in a law firm.

Sauer is a two-time junior world champion and multiple Austrian national champion in bridge as well as honorary and disciplinary council in the Austrian Bridge Sports Association . At the World University Team Championship 2000 in Maastricht, the Austrian bridge team with Saurer, Andreas Gloyer, Arno Lindermann and Martin Schifko took first place. In March 2001 they were awarded the Sports Prize of the City of Vienna for this.

Bernd Saurer has been a member of the FPÖ since 1993, until 2012 he was on the board of the Ring Freiheitlicher Jugend (RFJ) Vienna. In 1996 he became a member of the district representation in Vienna - Alsergrund as a district councilor , and in 2011 he became a club lawyer for the Vienna FPÖ parliamentary group.

After Maximilian Krauss was rejected by Mayor Michael Häupl as Vice President in the City School Council for Vienna , Sauer was nominated for this office. In December 2015 he was appointed Deputy City School Council President for Vienna at the suggestion of the Vienna FPÖ.

At the end of March 2019, he was sent by the Vienna State Parliament to the Austrian Federal Council. He succeeded Georg Schuster , who moved to the state parliament. The FPÖ sent him to the federal electoral authority for the 2019 National Council election .
