Bernd Schimmler

Bernd Manfred Schimmler (born October 19, 1949 in Berlin-Wedding ) is a former German politician ( SPD ).

Life

After graduating from high school in 1969, Schimmler studied law and initially also political science at the Free University of Berlin . He passed his first state law examination with satisfactory , the second with fully satisfactory . From 1975 to 1977 he was a trainee lawyer in the higher court district for various areas. From 1977 to 1986 Schimmler was a public prosecutor at the Berlin Regional Court , for several years responsible for the prosecution of crimes of National Socialism , including the former judge at the People's Court . From 2003 to 2010 he had his own law firm. Until 2014 he advised Hartz IV recipients on legal matters for the Arbeiterwohlfahrt (AWO) Berlin.

From 1975 to 1977 and from 1980 to 2000 Schimmler sat in the district assembly of Berlin-Wedding. There he became parliamentary group leader in 1985. In 1986 he became district councilor for public education, in 1992 district councilor for construction and the environment, and from 1997 additionally responsible for school administration and culture until the Wedding district was dissolved. From 2001 to 2006 Schimmler sat in the Berlin House of Representatives . He was directly elected in the constituency center 7 .

For health reasons he was not available for a second candidacy. In the House of Representatives, Schimmler was a member of the building committee, the legal committee, and the 1st committee of inquiry into the banking company as well as the G-10 commission , where he was also chairman, and the judges' selection committee , where he was deputy chairman.

Schimmler is chairman of the Weddinger Heimatverein. For his volunteerism Berlin Governing Mayor handed Michael Müller him in March 2016 awarded by the Federal President of Merit .
