Berndt-Ulrich Scholz

Berndt-Ulrich Scholz (born October 17, 1939 in Glogau , Lower Silesia Province ) is a German entrepreneur and football official . From 1999 to 2013 he was CEO of Scholz AG .

Live and act

Berndt-Ulrich Scholz was born in 1939 as the son of the entrepreneur Carl-Heinz Scholz in Glogau in Lower Silesia. After the expulsion after the Second World War , the family moved first to Heilbronn and later to Aalen . After attending elementary school , from 1954 he completed his parents' scrap trading company C.-H. Scholz KG , today Scholz Holding , trained as a wholesale merchant .

In 1967 Scholz was appointed managing general partner of Scholz KG and established himself with the company on the international market in the following years. With the change of the company form to a stock corporation , Scholz took over the position of CEO in 1999, which was transferred to his son Oliver in 2013. In 2014, Scholz left the management of the family company entirely, but continues to provide advice.

Scholz has been an honorary senator at Aalen University since 2006 . In 2013 he founded a W3 professorship for pediatric urology at the University of Ulm .

Functional activity at VfR Aalen

In 1996 Berndt-Ulrich Scholz became a member of the board of directors of the then fourth-class VfR Aalen , which rose to the third division in 1999. In 2000 he moved up to the executive committee of the association.

On March 20, 2003, Scholz was elected President, replacing his predecessor Johannes Moser. During Scholz's tenure, VfR Aalen managed to establish itself in professional football and to move up to the 2nd Bundesliga in 2012 , where the team played until they were relegated in 2015. After the departure of the then main sponsor Imtech in 2013, the VfR got into financial difficulties, which Scholz tried again and again to regulate with guarantees. After relegation to the 3rd division in the summer of 2015, Berndt-Ulrich Scholz promised to free VfR Aalen from debt in order to enable an economic and sporting fresh start.

After a 13-year term in office, Scholz resigned on June 30, 2016.

Awards

On the occasion of his 65th birthday, Berndt-Ulrich Scholz was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon in 2004. He is also the holder of the Staufer Medal and the Business Medal of the State of Baden-Württemberg .

In the field of sport, he received the badge of honor from the Württemberg Football Association in 2012 for his services to VfR Aalen .
